Using user defined styles in FAB Subtitler

User defined styles allow defining how a subtitle shall be formatted, for example defining a fixed text color, fixed justification, fixed vertical position and more.

Defining user defined styles

User defined styles can be configured in Options / Subtitle formats / Subtitle styles.

Every style receives a unique name which is later referenced in FAB Subtitler when selecting the style that shall be applied to the subtitle.

Defining keyboard shortcuts for subtitle styles

It is possible to define keyboard shortcuts which will select one of the configured subtitle styles. You could define keyboard combinations Ctrl+1, Ctrl+2, Ctrl+3 or any other as shown below:

Using user defined styles for live transcribed text

All live transcribed text can automatically be formatted using a user defined style as described above.

Using user defined styles in speech interface

When transmitting subtitles in FAB Subtitler LIVE from the speech interface one of the user defined styles can be applied to all subtitles transmitted from the speech interface.

A keyboard combination can be used to select the user defined style, but it is also possible to select it by mouse by clicking in the ribbon or on the rectangle left of the speech interface editor window.

Using user defined styles for subtitle preparation

When preparing subtitles in EDIT mode in FAB Subtitler it is also possible to use subtitle styles. To apply a subtitle style to the currently edited subtitle use the configured keyboard combination or click on Format / Set subtitle style in the ribbon. The subtitle will be reformatted to follow the selected style. After that it can be modified in the editor again.

Selecting user defined styles for subtitle transmission

FAB Subtitler BCAST/XCD can apply a user defined style to all transmitted subtitles. An automation command SETSTYLE is available for this and is described in detail in the manual.

Examples:

COMMAND=SETSTYLE;DATA=Top left yellow
COMMAND=SETSTYLE;DATA=
