Automatic vertical offset in FAB Subtitler LIVE

FAB Subtitler LIVE can detect text inserts in the video and can then automatically apply a vertical offset to subtitles so that the subtitles do not cover the text insert in the video.

Configuration of video source

FAB Subtitler LIVE requires a video source, for example SDI for Decklink card input or live video stream received over udp. The configuration of live video source is described on this page this page.

Configuration of vertical offset

The configuration is available in Options / Special / Live text formatting:

  • “Not more than 7 lines” means that when a text insert is detected a vertical offset will be applied so that the subtitle will not cover the text insert, but the offset will not be more than 7 lines.

Using the functionality

  • Keep in mind that automatic vertical offset will only be applied to subtitles transmitted out of the speech interface text editor window. It will not be applied to subtitles transmitted from a subtitle file using INS/DEL/ENTER keys.

  • It is important that the setting “Apply positioning to all subtitles instead of only to subtitles from speech editor” in Options / Special / Speech interface is activated

  • Automatic vertical offset in the speech interface will only be applied when the “Default vertical position” is selected
