Using AI to modify subtitle files

The text below describes how to use AI to modify the content of subtitles files:

• Save the subtitle file in FAB Subtitler in .esub format (ESUB-XF XML format)
• Provide it to AI chat together with instructions what should be modified
• Download the modified .esub subtitle file from AI chat and open and check it in FAB Subtitler

Example

Your customer wants you to provide subtitle files which needs to have at least one subtitle every 30 seconds. If there is a gap of more than 30 seconds then a subtitle should be inserted which only contains an asterisk ( * ).

To achieve this:

• Save your subtitle file in FAB Subtitler in .esub format (ESUB-XF XML format)

• In AI chat (for example in claude.ai with Sonnet 4.6 model with high effort) drop the .esub subtitle file on the AI chat and type the following prompt:

This is a subtitle file in ESUB-XF format. If there is a gap of more than 30 seconds between two subtitles, insert one or more subtitles containing only a centered * as text, so that every 30 seconds there is either a subtitle with text from the file or a subtitle with a centered *. All subtitles in the file must be preserved.

• claude.ai will provide the modified .esub file within a minute or two

• Download the modified .esub subtitle file from AI chat and open and check it in FAB Subtitler
