Remote Audio in FAB Subtitler Server

When FAB Subtitler BCAST/XCD is used for live transcription with FAB Subtitler Server then the audio source can be connected to FAB Subtitler Server instead of connecting it to FAB Subtitler BCAST/XCD. This is “Remote Audio”.

Supported audio sources in FAB Subtitler Server

  • Audio received from SDI: Decklink card with 1 or more SDI inputs (Decklink Mini Recorder 4K, Decklink Duo 2, …)
  • Audio received from udp/rtp/srt TS/IP input
  • Audio received from SMPTE 2110 input

Configuration of audio sources in FAB Subtitler Server

Audio sources are defined on the “General settings” page in FAB Subtitler Server Configuration program.

Every audio source has to use a unique NAME which identifies the audio source (ie. CH1, CH2, CH3). This NAME must be specified in the configuration of FAB Subtitler BCAST to select the correct audio input for live transcription.

Configured audio sources are not initialized on start of FAB Subtitler Server Service. Every audio source is initialized only when it is required. When a live transcription session using the audio source is stopped then also the audio source is uninitialized.

Configuration of FAB Subtitler BCAST/XCD

To use the “Remote Audio” source in FAB Subtitler BCAST/XCD the NAME of the source must be configured correctly in Options / Special / Live transcription:
