Reception of subtitles over network

FAB Subtitler BCAST/XCD can receive subtitles over network and retransmit them with an optional delay on configured outputs.

Subtitles can be received on one or two different TCP ports. Four different subtitling protocols are supported and FAB Subtitler BCAST/XCD automatically detects which protocol is used by the system which is sending subtitles:

  • NEWFOR over TCP
  • FAB Public Teletext Protocol
  • FAB legacy teletext protocol
  • ESUB-XF TCP Protocol

Configuration in FAB Subtitler BCAST/XCD

  • Enable “Accept incoming subtitle connections”
  • Click on “Protocols / Settings”

  • Configure at least one TCP port on which subtitles will be received

  • In case that you will use the modern ESUB-XF protocol then there are further settings available by clicking on “ESUB-XF Protocol Settings”. One of the main advantages of the ESUB-XF protocol is that it is possible to request login with username/password and make sure that only authorized clients are allowed to send subtitles.
