Backup and restore FAB Subtitle Database

Daily backup

FAB Subtitle Database can create a copy of the current database in a consistent state and write it into a file which can be backed up to a safe location.

To configure the daily backup start Database Config and select the time and backup folder:

Backup and restore the database manually

In case that the database becomes slow it is recommended to manually:

  • Backup the database to a file
  • Restore the database from the same file

This will rebuild all indexes in the database and store them in a continuous area in the file. The search functionality may function much faster then before backing up and restoring the database.

Backup

  • Start Database Config
  • Click on Database tools / Backup database and enter the filename of the FBK backup file

This will stop the database, make a copy of the database file, restart the database and then export all data from the copied file into the backup FBK file.

Restore

After having the FBK backup file you can restore the database:

  • It is advisable to first stop the FAB Subtitle Database service, make a copy of the STTDB3.FDB5 database file and restart the FAB Subtitle Database Service
  • Start Database Config
  • Click on Database tools / Restore database and select the FBK backup file
